Sommers launches “SIMPL®” silicone-impregnated hemp fabric
CLIFTON, New Jersey-June 9, 2017 Sommers, supplying the trade since 1947, introduced a textile combining environmentally-friendly hemp substrate with a durable silicone surface.
“We successfully coated the surface of hemp and hemp blends with silicone polymer gaining remarkable stain and abrasion resistance,” said Fred Schecter, Sommers’ VP. “With our proprietary treatment of silicone we are able to convert a wide range of hemp fabric weaves, colors and even prints.”
Just in time for more stringent ecological standards for soft goods and commercial materials, “SIMPL®” is ideal for indoor and outdoor applications. Available for the moment on a custom-basis only, samples are available for review and end-product prototyping.
Adding a hemp/silicone textile widens the range of Sommers’ earth and animal-friendly synthetic leather, skins and “Genuine Fake®” Fur.
