Montura enters North America
Iconic Italian technical apparel company debuts at OR Show in January
VAIL, Colo. (Jan. 15, 2020) – M.T. Imports Inc. of Vail, Colorado has announced that Montura, the iconic Italian outdoor apparel brand, will be introduced to the North American market at the Outdoor Retailer (OR) trade show in Denver, January 29-31, 2020 for the Fall/Winter season 2020.
Marco Tonazzi, owner and President of M.T. Imports Inc., states, “Roberto Giordani, owner and founder of Montura, and I have been good friends for many years; we recently met in Italy and agreed that the timing is right to introduce Montura to the US and Canada. The market has an appetite for a ‘new’ brand with exceptional technical features and fresh innovative design. We are excited for this new venture and confident in a successful launch in North America.”
Since 1993 M.T. Imports has introduced to the US market many high-end Italian ski and outdoor apparel brands like Napapijri, Hell is for Heroes, Dolomite, Think Pink, Colmar and Parajumpers. Tonazzi added, “We featured Montura in our Valbruna store in Vail for years and this is a great opportunity to now introduce another fantastic Italian brand in the US and Canada. Montura offers a contemporary product assortment for the outdoor and ski markets and our goal is to build a presence with a selected distribution network and strategic retail partnerships.”
Tonazzi has appointed Mike Stepanek, 25-year outdoor and snowsports apparel sales veteran, as the North American Head of Wholesale. “Consumers and retailers are more aware and educated and are demanding more than just cool products, brand story and brand behavior matters.” Stepanek said. “Montura has a long-term history of producing exceptional outdoor apparel that meets the needs of retailers and consumers on every level –comfortable and functional materials, fashionable design and purposeful features in one complete collection. The brand’s manufacturing practices, dedication to social and environmental endeavors and ongoing support of art and culture of the mountains are

Montura was established in 1987 and is deeply entrenched in the Italian marketplace, including owning its own manufacturing facility and more than 25 Montura Alpstation stores across Italy. The diverse product collections include stylish and functional apparel for alpine and backcountry skiing, climbing, mountaineering, ice climbing, snowsports, nordic skiing, running, cycling, sailing and watersports, as well as work/safety wear. Colorado-based MT Imports’ initial focus will be on introducing the outdoor winter snowsports line for the fall/winter 2020 season.
