 Press Releases

  • Dovetail Workwear’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection continues to tear through the duck canvas ceiling with a new fabric line that blends ultimate functionality, high performance, and style. The first product premiering in this series is the StayBlack™ Maven denim pant incorporating CORDURA®.

The female design team of Dovetail Workwear, CORDURA® and Artistic Milliners partnered with wear testers to create a series of midweight, rough and tough but stylish fabrics.

“From fiber and fabric to garment construction and detail, our wear testers continue to drive our product design,” Dovetail Workwear head of product development Sara DeLuca said. “How could we not raise the bar with such a group of kick-ass women as our inspiration?”

The Maven StayBlack™ denim workpant is engineered with cotton and cellulose fibers to be four times more abrasion resistant than traditional cotton denim. The fibers are dyed before weaving, an environmentally sustainable process that conserves water and locks in color. StayBlack™ moves with active women, from service jobs to after work hikes. MSRP $99 USD

In terms of weight and breathability, the inaugural Spring Summer collection is a breath of fresh air. The new Anna Task pant combines a fitted waist with a looser leg that breathes and bends. Available in 9 oz painters white and navy stretch canvas. MSRP $69

Dovetail’s other pant styles are also summer ready, including:

    • Maven Work Short: available in 8 oz indigo stripe denim; 9 oz painters white, khaki and black cotton canvas  MSRP $64.50

    • Day Construct Pant (MSRP $89) and Work Short (MSRP $64.50) in 7.5 oz lightweight, water-repellent cotton stretch ripstop

    • The Freshley Overall in 8 oz indigo stripe denim (MSRP $129)

Going from bottom to top, the Givens work shirt in cotton COOLMAX® wicks in the most humid climes. Dovetail Workwear will also offer a lightweight pullover hoody made from heathered french terry with a zippered front pocket. And their new line of lightweight tees get back to basics without sacrificing quality.

DeLuca has advanced the line’s technology and sustainability with progressive production processes and partners.

“It starts with materials that break the mold to redefine workwear. Our fabrics must be functional and durable but with a deep appreciation of texture, color and aesthetic,” Deluca said. “And making a difference matters throughout the product chain. Whether it’s organic cotton, modal fibers, waterless dye processing or the next generation of fluorocarbon- and PFOA-free repellency treatments, our goal is to do it better.”

Dovetail Workwear started with three women — two with muddy knees and one knee-deep in textiles. Co-founders Kate Day and Kyle Marie Begley loved their Portland Oregon landscaping business but hated their workwear. When they met client and apparel expert Sara DeLuca, the three took things into their own hands, developing the Maven slim pant to address these shortcomings. That pant was the catalyst for Dovetail Workwear: Fit for the Job, Capable of Anything.
