Just one year after launching FinalStraw on Kickstarter, Final announces FinalStraw 2.0. The new design fits in a smaller case, is lighter and has a larger inner diameter for increased sucking power.
Final’s mission is to reduce reliance on single-use plastic by creating badass reusable alternatives, because change can start with a single straw. Final began filling orders in November 2018 and has shipped more than 250,000 straws, preventing 36,000,000 plastic straws from entering the environment.
The innovative design hasn’t come without challenges. Not long after launching FinalStraw, counterfeit designs flooded the market. The company is working to remove the knockoff products that infringe on the FinalStraw patent from online retailers websites.
“The whole point of the company is to reduce single-use plastic waste. And when people get one of these [knockoff straws], and they open it up, and it doesn’t work, and it only cost $5, guess where it’s going? It’s going in the trash,” said Emma Cohen, Final’s CEO, during an interview with CNBC.
With a greater understanding of how to handle counterfeit products, Final is preparing to launch a line of Foreverables™—stay tuned for FinalFork!
