Makalot’s application of Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) technology uses electric currents to stimulate the nerves and muscle groups under the skin, allowing the muscles to exercise, contract, and relax. The goal is to help users train muscle groups that are more difficult to access and lack exercise and strengthen the impact of muscle training. With EMS, users can shorten the time period for achieving those results.
EMS’ application in physical therapy, muscle rehabilitation, and sports science has a decades-long history. Makalot sees the advantages of the technology and has applied it in the smart textiles field, combining fashionable, textile elements with thin, wireless features. It allows users to experience wearable EMS devices in various environments, such as at home, outside, in the office, or at the gym. The accumulation of these efforts is shown in Makalot’s new smart textile technology brand WIIM, launched in 2021.
Makalot has never ceased exploring new business models and moving beyond the norm in the traditional textile industry by setting up a global system for raw material supply. The company has locations in Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, China, and the Philippines, while primarily focusing on apparel brands based in the U.S., Europe, Japan, and Taiwan. Makalot hopes to seek new opportunities and partners, and improve product exposure in domestic and overseas markets at Medical Taiwan.
