  • The 2-way Satellite Communication Device that Works Conveniently with Your Existing Smartphone

Salt Lake City, UT. – Bivy, the app that ignited countless adventures and helped people find, track, and share their outdoor adventures, today announced a Kickstarter campaign launching BivyStick, a 2-way satellite communication device. BivyStick works conveniently with users’ existing smartphones and offers all of the benefits of a GPS unit and satellite 2-way communicator to send SMS messages, track and share location information, access GPS maps, get up to date weather forecasts, and notify EMS in the event of an emergency.

“I created Bivy (app) to get people into the outdoors.” says Bivy founder Vance Cook. “But, I wanted to expand on the idea and give adventurers of all skills and backgrounds a convenient and easy way stay in touch when they were out of cell service range. Ease of use was tantamount to our process with BivyStick and it was a natural evolution for us to design around the app and use an interface that we’re all familiar with, the smartphone. Getting into the outdoors is good for the mind and soul. We just want to help people do it safely and enjoyably.”

Additionally, Bivy strove to create a convenient, easy to understand and use data plan with no annual contracts or subscription. Users can identify and customize the right data plan to meet their adventure style and purchase credits; simply turning on the BivyStick when they need it and turning it off when they don’t. Bivy’s data plans are designed to be flexible and meet the needs of both the super hardcore and the casual weekend warrior.

BivyStick will seamlessly link to users’ smartphone wirelessly via Bluetooth or an included cable and will have ample battery capacity to run the device and (re)charge the users’ smartphone freeing the user from an additional device and able to focus on an entire weekend of adventuring.
